Intellectual Property Management for Startups and New Ventures
Recognizing the contribution of startups in India towards development of innovative products/processes/services for domestic and global markets, the Intellectual Property Offices of India have announced special provisions for startups to enable them to build effective IPR strategies in line with their business strategy. Recently amended Patent rules by Patent Office, India including filing fee rebates and fast track examination of IP among startups go hand in hand with other plans announced by the Government of India in order to allow startups to realize the value of IPRs effectively.
To provide a further impetus to the startup IP ecosystem in India, LES India has planned to conduct a two-day workshop for startups, entrepreneurs and innovators, in Bengaluru on Aug 4 and Aug 5, 2016. This two-days workshop will help the participants hear from eminent speakers and panel participants, on a range of topics related to IP protection, risk and compliance, commercialization and monetization and technology transaction, licensing/contract and other general issues, as pertaining to the IP needs and plans of startups in India. It will also present a view of emerging trends in IP in India, IP issues and challenges faced by startups, provide guidance on how to build a customized IP protection strategy, risk identification and mitigation measures, monetization and valuation aspects,
and information related to IP licensing and related legal aspects. Participants will also be able to interact one-on-one with IP experts to seek inputs on their specific IP requirements and issues.
