INNOVATION, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND ROLE OF LICENSING: A TECHNOLOGY DRIVEN INITIATIVE TOWARDS MAKE IN INDIA

Technology and innovation have always played an instrumental role in the economic growth of our country. As a Nation, we are at the cusp of ‘a traditional approach meets modern renditions. From launching satellites to generating growth and employment opportunities across various technology led industries such as agriculture, healthcare, automotive industries and more, India is aggressively gearing up to compete and come on par with the developed nations. This is also reflecting in the increasing quantum of intellectual property in the country.

Intellectual Property protection in India is a necessity and the Government has taken several initiatives in this regard. These initiatives are aimed at raising awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), evolving the IPR policy to be more effective and encouraging corporates, academic institutions, MSMEs and start-ups to innovate and develop intellectual property. Also, there is an increased focus on IP monetization and licensing. All in all, innovation, intellectual property and licensing are all coming together to ensure that India grows into a global leading manufacturing hub. Across the globe, these efforts are being recognized in the form of investments flowing into India to further research and development, design and manufacturing in various sectors.

With such positive developments, it becomes imperative that each entity in the country’s business ecosystem is legally aware of one’s rights towards the invention, protection and licensing of the Intellectual Property. This will help to create a robust IP ecosystem in India and also provide a stable framework for multinational companies wanting to conduct business in India.

To provide further impetus to the IP regime in India, we invite the Government, industry and policymakers, to come and join hands to establish India’s next stage growth, focusing on strategies that can foster and enhance the innovation capacity in the Nation. We strongly believe that through this platform, the linkages between innovation and competitiveness can be exploited to stimulate the dynamics of innovation.

The workshop has eminent panellists and speakers, dignitaries and distinguished guests from Government, established law firms and industry, and professionals, who will enlighten the members and the audience on the need and importance of the protection and licensing laws in the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in India and the current initiatives taken by the Government to provide help towards the betterment of the Country.

This workshop will lay emphasis on the creation, development, protection and role of licensing and regulatory compliances of IP in the digital age through adoption of various strategies. We look forward to seeing you at the workshop.
